Based on the popular best selling video game, and created by Production IG, the new joint effort film from BioWare and FUNimation is finally seeing a release date of December 28. Though I have to be honest, it's not something I think I'll be jumping over lines of waiting fans to get my hands on.
For one thing, it's a prequel, which has little if anything to do with Shepherd and his crew, despite the fact that this film is set just prior to the events of Mass Effect 3, and to make it even better the character designs look like some fabuloso impression of the character designs used in the franchise.
I'm not one for judging a book by its cover, but if this thing sells, it will only be for those fans that either love everything FUNimation does, or are blind loyalists to the Mass Effect franchise.
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost "follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega. Vega leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes."~ FUNimation
Oh be still my beating heart, is that Freddie Prinze Jr reprising his part as Vega?
Think I'll pass on this. After the debacle that was Dragon Age, I'm not so sure letting an American distribution company co-create my anime is such a sound idea. More like insanity.
