Anime, Allergies, and Antibiotics... oh my

Well, it's been since Black Friday that I was last on here, while visiting my wife's family up North. And wouldn't you know it, I came down with a nasty sinus infection a few hours before the long drive back, and spent the trip home, clutching a bottle of DayQuil, and sipping gas station coffee.

Needless to say, the site has been neglected somewhat due to the sinus infection, but now that everything is back on track, I thought I would just drop in and make a post to show you all that I'm not really dead, and I'm not hiding somewhere in the Antarctic, tending to Popsicle bunnies.

Anyway... as a token of my esteem, I thought I would make mention of a few things that have nothing to do with anime.

One of which, is the new Halo 4 game, which is awesome, and brings back all the good things I loved about the online experience, that sort of was killed off in Halo Reach. So if you like a great story generated game, this one has it, and it has a great classic feel while be…

New Haruhi Art Book with Story

Starting May 1st of next year, there is going to be a series of new art books with original Haruhi Suzumiya stories. It was announced in Kadokawa Shoten's Sneaker Bunko, and though these are going to be cool, I'm wondering how broad these are going to go, in that are we going to be getting these in the States.

New art books are cool, and certainly new stores.

Anyone else looking forward to more Haruhi?

New Ah My Goddess OAD

Well just when we thought the franchise was long since over, the next OAD for Ah! My Goddess has been green lit and will be seeing the light of day sometime after the first of the year, and will be bundled with a volume of the manga.

I'm excited about this, but I'm also slightly disappointed. I'd have hoped that by now, the franchise would have developed to the point where we see more of Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship beyond holding hands and the occasional peck on the cheek.

Regardless, I'm hoping that since this isn't the last of the animated form of the franchise, then maybe we'll get something better. But anyway, it'll be fun to see them back again.

Detective Conan Movie 17: Private Eye in the Distant Sea

Well, it's finally been revealed that the new Detective Conan movie for next year is going to be, Movie 17 - The Private Eye in the Distant Sea and already I'm looking forward to it. Granted I haven't had a chance to watch this year's movie, for which I'll have to remedy that very soon.

The movie is set on a state-of-the art Aegis vessel with the full cooperation of Japan's Ministry of Defense and Maritime Self-Defense Force. The heroine Ran is put in jeopardy, and Conan is forced to stand up against a dangerous criminal.

~ AnimeNewsNetwork If you aren't giddy for this, then you aren't much of a Conan fan, though I'm just hoping that they can figure out a way to put Haibara on the ship, or else this trip for me will be all about Ran x Conan...

Vividred Operation: Teaser

A-1 Pictures new anime Vividred Operation is getting some spin, and you can catch a glimpse of it here. It's an Original Anime, and while i don't know for sure if this is like the original ones of the past that were part of the Aniplex/A-1 Pictures joint, this one does have my interest piqued. Especially since this one is being directed by Kazuhiro Takamura, of Strike Witches fame.

The series is scheduled to premiere in January.

Anime Artisans: Sleeping

In celebration of the fact that I spend less time sleeping than I do working and blogging and gaming, and whatever else manages to fill up my day, I thought I would post about it.

Being a natural born insomniac, I often find myself dog-tired, and still staying up to finish an anime, or a game, or even in the most recent case; the last five episodes of The Walking Dead - Season 2.

I'm sure there are other fellow otaku out there that are just as bothered by sleeping, or lack thereof, and to all you that would rather game till dawn, or cram a whole twenty-six episode series in a single night, I dedicate these pictures to you... especially after the insomnia has worn off, and we konk out in a nice repose.

Enjoy!

WO Reviews: Hellsing Ultimate Volume 1 Blu-Ray

The Bird of Hermes is my name; Eating my wings to make me tame.

Hellsing is one of those lucky classic series that fortune smiled upon and granted it a modern revival; Hellsing Ultimate is that revival. Spread across 10, 50 minute OVAs, Ultimate is a true-to-the-manga adaptation of a series that captivated audiences back in 2003, but failed to deliver any form of a satisfying ending, due to the fact that the manga was ongoing. Volume 1 is a collection of the first 4 OVA episodes spread across 3 DVDs or 2 Blu-rays.

If you've been in the anime world for any measurable amount of time, you most likely are somewhat familiar with the series, its premise, or its famous protagonist, Alucard. The Hellsing organization fights vampires and other evil forces that threaten England with their own super-powerful undead entity, the vampire Alucard. While performing his exterminatory duties, Alucard saves the life of a virgin police officer by turning her into an agent of the undead. As Alucard e…

Aniplex Delays Garden of Sinners

Well, it seems that Aniplex of America has delayed their release of Garden of Sinners to an uncertain date, no doubt to the chagrin of the fans, and where it not for the fact that the complete box set is slated at a less than modest price of $185.00 the company has still not learned to get better control of their prices.

I don't want to go on a tirade here or anything, but this is getting ridiculous if you ask me. How is any company expected to stay in business if they keep jacking up their prices like this? Instead of catering to a select few high-brow nerds, the company would do better to make their initial releases of the product a little more cost conscious to the consumers.

I know that I do spend a lot of money on anime, but I am also NOT made of money, and neither are the fans for that matter. They may have some, but not enough to rush right out and spend nearly two hundred dollars for a box set of anime. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that Aniplex had lost thei…

Neon Alley to Premiere Bleach Movie 4

Well it isn't any surprise that Neon Alley is wanting to take off with a bang, and to sweeten the deal for their viewers, and subscribers, Viz Media are making good on their promise of bringing the best newest content to the masses.

What this means is that, Neon Alley is going to be premiering the new Bleach: Hell Verse movie before its scheduled release date, and of course with the new English dub at that. The film, which is scheduled to premiere Sunday, November 25 at 8:00 p.m. EST, is several weeks in advance of the street date for the DVD/BD slated for December 4.

So go out there and rejoice, and then come back and let me know how it feels to have Viz finally making good strides toward the fanbase again.

Dragon Ball Kai to Continue

So everyone has been wanting this, and it seems as if your wishes have been granted. At least in part.

The word going round, is that the voice actors for DBZKAI are coming back in to do more voice work for the show. Which means the fans that wanted to have the Buu Saga are going to probably now get those episodes, but there is a catch.

The new episodes are supposedly not going to air in domestic Japan. These are going to air elsewhere, which is a major drag for some, and a blessing for others.

There is no word yet on if FUNimation is getting them yet

WO: On Election Day

It's time after four years for the American people, and especially the American Otaku to make their way into the voting booths and cast a vote for their Presidential candidate.

I don't usually use the site here as a focus on political things, and for the most part, few people on the internet are even aware of my political affiliations. But when people ask me which party I am for, I give them a straight answer, and I stick to my beliefs, despite the near inexhaustible argumentative nature of others.

Now, this election has been a unique one, in the sense that most of the newer young people that have finally hit that age where they can vote are doing so, and are dragging their technological social applied networks with them.

In an age where every tiny nuance of the world is commented on with Twitter and Facebook, we've gained a huge amount of global awareness, and in the process learned how to be obstinately opinionated on damn near everything, from gas prices, to last week…

AMV - Pantsu, Pantsu and More Pantsu!

Since the Holiday Season is fast upon us, and because I haven't posted in a few days, I figured I'd throw a bone... er, uh yeah to the guys that just can't get enough of the pantsu.

May God have mercy on your souls!
